Wenshuai is currently completing her PhD at Ghent University, where her research examines how interpreters navigate institutional power dynamics in police interrogations in China, a field that sits at the intersection of language, justice, and human rights.

Beyond her dissertation, Wenshuai contributes to the development of interpreter training frameworks and investigates the limits of technology in replacing human judgment in high-stakes legal settings.

Her career has followed an unconventional path something she embraces fully. From hosting primetime television shows in China to acting in international films, she brings a rare blend of analytical thinking and creative storytelling. These experiences also shape her entrepreneurial initiatives, including a forthcoming documentary on intangible cultural heritage, which she is directing and producing.

Wenshuai believes that stories whether told through language, data, or film,,can shift narratives and drive change. She is passionate about empowering others, especially women and creatives from diverse backgrounds, to find their voice at the crossroads of research, innovation, and culture.

Curious, driven, and deeply interdisciplinary, Wenshuai is committed to turning research into resonance and ideas into impact.
