Onur is a mathematician and computer scientist currently serving as a Senior Researcher and Postdoctoral Fellow in the Computer Science department at the University of Antwerp, Belgium. His academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Mathematics from Ege University in İzmir, Turkey, followed by an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the same institution. He later completed his PhD at Paderborn University in Germany, specializing in software testing, with a strong focus on model-based testing and mutation testing—fields that uniquely bridge theoretical exploration with practical application.
Throughout his career, Onur has gained extensive international experience, collaborating with universities and research institutes in Turkey, Germany, and Belgium. At the University of Antwerp, his current research emphasizes applied software development and rigorous testing methodologies, particularly mutation testing tailored for safety-critical systems like autonomous vehicles, medical devices, and aviation systems. He collaborates closely with industry partners to ensure practical relevance and real-world impact. Additionally, he actively contributes to mentoring master's students and participates in teaching activities.
Onur is passionate about enhancing collaboration between academia and industry. Driven by this vision, he is working toward establishing a spin-off company aimed at facilitating the exchange of innovative solutions between researchers and industry professionals.
Beyond his professional commitments, Onur enjoys exploring calligraphy, a hobby that fuels his creativity and inspires fresh perspectives. He is also a devoted animal lover and proud father to a cat named Manco and a dog named Leo.
